You need to feel confident that your guest will return your home to you in the same state you left it. Insurance is there to protect you if the worst happens, but there are precautions you can take to make sure you don’t have to make a claim.

1. When accepting a new guest the first thing you should do is run a Google search and double check any information a potential guest has given you against what they choose to share online.

2. Look at other reviews they’ve written. Not only will previous reviews help you decide if they’re likely to be a difficult guest, but they will also help you pre-empt any questions or queries they might have, putting you one step closer to getting five stars!

3. Follow your gut; if you have any lingering doubts about the guest or their intentions, trust your instinct.

The sharing economy is about just that, sharing, we have to build this online community as safely as possible so always try to give reviews; always be honest and polite because you never know what ill-advised rant might come back to haunt you!
